About FastUtil

FastUtil is a small independent project that publishes free online tools for three kinds of everyday tasks: solving word puzzles, handling developer data formats, and working with text. At the moment the site offers 14 tools, and we add more based on what visitors ask for.

Our approach

  • Private by design. The tools run as JavaScript in your browser. The text, JSON, tokens and letters you enter are processed on your own device and are not uploaded to our servers.
  • Correct before clever. We test the logic behind each tool: for example, CSV output follows the standard quoting rules, Base64 handles Unicode, passwords use your browser’s cryptographic random number generator, and the Wordle solver correctly handles repeated letters.
  • Honest about limits. Each tool page explains what the tool does not do. Our word tools use a general English word list, not an official tournament dictionary, and we say so wherever it matters.
  • Free, with a light touch. The site is free to use and is supported by advertising. Ads, where shown, are clearly separated from the tools.

What you will find here

The tools fall into four groups. Word game tools (anagram solver, word unscrambler, Scrabble word finder, Wordle solver and crossword solver) help with puzzles and board games. Developer tools convert and decode JSON, Base64, URLs, Unix timestamps and JWTs. Text tools change letter case, count words and generate placeholder text. The password generator creates strong random passwords locally.

Every tool page includes a plain-language explanation of how the tool works, step-by-step instructions, common uses, and answers to frequently asked questions, so that you can judge the result for yourself instead of taking it on trust.

Accuracy and corrections

We check each tool against known examples before publishing it, and we update the pages when we find a problem. If you spot a wrong result, a missing word or a confusing explanation, please tell us through the contact page with the input you used and the output you expected. Corrections are made as soon as we can reproduce the issue.

Where the word lists come from

The word-game tools use an English word list derived from the SCOWL (Spell Checker Oriented Word Lists) project by Kevin Atkinson. We keep only lower-case dictionary words and add regular inflections such as plurals and verb endings. This is a broad general-purpose list. It is not identical to the official Scrabble or Wordle dictionaries, so a few valid words may be missing and a few obscure entries may appear.
